Rich

My name is Richard Stein and I am an active member of the Queens County ACT for Youth Community. I am an extremely mature individual who will jump at every opportunity to expand my mind as well as help others expand theirs. I work at a local community center with children between the ages of 9 through 16 and lead all sorts of classes. I also have a particular interest in flying and aviation: I am a certified helicopter pilot and am on my way to achieving a normal piloting license. My ACT for Youth work in Queens has landed me a position on local community boards, as well as helped me start developing my future. My philosophy towards life is that time is granted to us to live life to the fullest, and I do my best to help others live their lives. By living theirs, they help me live mine.

Stephanie

Hey, my name is Steph. I will be 18 in February '08 and I'm home-schooled. I've been very involved in the Girl Scouts since I was 7 and I'm president of my 4H TAG group. I'm involved in the Youth Development Action Team in Orange County and my Episcopal Church's Youth Group. I love working with kids and just having fun. I'm not sure what I want to do with my life yet, but I know I want it to have something to do with children. I'm very easy to get to know and I try to be very open-minded.

Zach

Hi, I'm Zach! (Yes, the exclamation point was necessary.) I'm from Nassau County and I'm in twelfth grade; this is my second year on the Steering Committee. In addition to my work with ACT for Youth and the Steering Committee, I volunteer for a few other youth initiatives here in Nassau. This work has shown me the true importance of increasing youth voice. Outside of my volunteer work, I really like to travel. I've been fortunate enough to go to some really interesting places in my life. Also, I quite enjoy snowboarding and go upstate with my family a few times every winter.

It's really nice to be involved in so many initiatives that aim to change the structure of how things are done. As this will likely be my last year on the Steering Committee, I'm interested to see how my work, and the work of those who come after me, unfolds.
